The DDA. It's now the law. Think about it.

In October 2004, the scope of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) was extended to cover service providers employing less than 15 people, and to place a duty on those who provide goods or services to the public to make reasonable adjustments to the physical features of their premises.

To publicise the change, the government ran a campaign to make service providers aware of their responsibilities under the law.

The campaign focused primarily on the kind of 'reasonable changes' that service providers could make to conform to the DDA, underpinned by the line 'The DDA. It's now the law. Think about it.'

Using press and radio, the advertising set out some examples of simple changes and modifications that service providers and their staff could undertake easily to make their businesses and premises more welcoming to disabled people

The direct marketing campaign focused more on understanding the needs of disabled people, whilst also providing suggestions of what a service provider can do to make life easier for them.
