Government Actuary’s Department

Undertakes surveys of occupational pension schemes every four to five years.

Pension Protection Fund

Established by the Pensions Act 2004 to pay compensation to members of defined benefit pension schemes which have been wound up due to insolvency and meet certain eligibility criteria.

The Pensions Advisory Service

The Pensions Advisory Service is an independent non-profit organisation that provides information and guidance on the whole spectrum of pensions covering State, company, personal and stakeholder schemes.

The Pensions Ombudsman

Investigates and decides complaints and disputes about the way that pension schemes are run.

The Pensions Regulator

The Pensions Regulator is the UK regulator of work-based pension schemes, supervising the pension industry and employers who administer pension schemes. A work-based pension scheme is any scheme that an employer makes available to employees. This includes all occupational schemes, and any stakeholder and personal pension schemes where employees have direct payment arrangements. A free Pensions Trustee e-learning toolkit is available.
